This privacy policy statement describes the privacy policy pertaining to the Barbados
Integrated Government (BIG) Portal maintained by the Data Processing Department.It indicates what type of information
we gather, what we do with it, and what you can do about it.
Collection of Information
Here are the types of information we gather

You Give Us:We receive
and may store any information you enter on our Portal or give us in any other way.
·**In order to sign up with the BIG portal
you must provide your national registration number, name, address, phone number
and e-mail address.To make payments
you must provide credit card information. You
will also be required to answer two security questions.These are geared towards protecting you from credit/debit card fraud.In addition they allow you to obtain
a new password in case you have forgotten your existing one.A password is required to process transactions and administer your account.**
·**Your National Registration number
and the login password ( in the case of individuals)MUST be provided in order to
gain access to the secure section of the portal.In case of the companies the Company Registration number and the company’s
login password MUST be used.**

You can choose not to provide certain information, but then you might not be able
to take advantage of some features.
We use the information that you provide for purposes such as responding to your
requests, improving our portal, and communicating with you.**
·Automatic
Information: We receive and store certain types of information whenever
you interact with us.For example,
like many portals, we use “cookies” and we obtain certain types of information when
your Web browser accesses www.barbados.gov.bb.Click here

Security of Your Personal Information
We are committed to protecting and securing of your personal information. Personal
information is information that you provide us which personally identifies you,
such as your name, national registration number, email address, billing information,
or other data which can be reasonably linked to such information by using the portal.
We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal
information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. For example,
·We store the personal information you
provide and transaction data on computer systems with limited access, which are
located in controlled facilities. Additionally, access to your personal information
is restricted to provide the greatest security possible.
·When we transmit highly confidential information
(such as a credit card number or password) over the Internet, we protect it through
the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
·Your credit card information is not stored
at any of our facilities.
·Persons who legitimately come into possession
of another’s personal information while using the portal are not permitted to use
or disclose such information without the consent of the owner of the information.
This applies particularly to persons who may be temporarily acting as the agent
of the owner of the information, example, lawyers acting on behalf of clients.
You may access some of our services by signing up for a BIG Portal account and providing
us with some personal information. This account information will be used to authenticate
you when you access the portal and protect your account from unauthorized access
by others.Your account information
is NOT shared with anyone except as specified in the Privacy Policy or with your
consent.
If a password is used to help protect your accounts and personal information, it
is your responsibility to keep your password confidential. DO NOT share this information with anyone. If you are sharing a computer
with anyone you should always choose to log out before leaving a site or service
to protect access to your information from subsequent users.
Information
Security issues considered when implementing our policy governing the security of
personal information include the following:
·The theft of clients' credit card details
which would jeopardize not only our organisation's reputation with clients and the
Card Issuers, but also places the card holders at financial risk.
·Disclosure of clients' credit card details
to anyone who is not explicitly authorised, jeopardises not only our organisation's
reputation with clients and the Card Issuers, but also places the card holders at
financial risk.
Use of Cookies and Web Beacons
·What are Cookies
and Web Beacons:These
are unique alphanumeric identifiers or text files transferred to your computer through
your web browser.Web beacons are electronic
images which allow tracking of general user-traffic patterns. Web beacons allow
a web site to count users who have visited that page or to access certain cookies.
When you visit a website again, the cookie records that information and allows that
site to recognize your browser when you visit again. Cookies may store user preferences
and other information.
·What we use
cookies and web beacons for: Cookies are used to assist you to securely
login to the portal and use some services provided on the portal.Web Beacons or Web Bugs are not used on the BIG Portal.
What you can do about Cookies
You can either accept or decline cookies, but your experience may be reduced on
the portal if you choose to decline cookies.
Information Security issues considered when implementing
our policy pertaining to the use of cookies and web beacons include the following:
·Where viruses, Trojan applications and
malicious code are able to penetrate your defences and activated by your Web browser,
serious damage may result.
·Confidential data may be stored and accessed
through a cookie saved on your PC and accessed by a Web site whilst you are browsing
- likely without your knowledge.
·Users may not be aware of the necessary
settings and related policy for ensuring security when using web browsers.
Use of information gathered:
We use the information we gather for several general purposes:
·To enhance the user experience in our
network of sites. We use tracking information to determine how well each page performs
overall based on aggregate user demographics and traffic patterns to those pages.
This helps us continue to build a better service for you;
·To fulfill your requests for certain products
and services, such as sending out electronic newsletters and enabling you to participate
in paid services, polls and message boards;
·To send you information you agreed to
receive about topics we think will be of interest to you.
·To inform you of other products or services
offered by government departments.
·Information gathered while using the portal
must be used in accordance with the business purposes expressly authorized by management.
·Persons who store, copy or distribute
illegal or offensive material may be committing an offence.
·Authority to access the organisation's
systems may not be assumed, because unauthorised access is not expressly prohibited.
·System software messages, displayed prior
to authenticated logon, should not
be construed as an invitation to use the computer system, and potentially encourage
unauthorised access.
·Pre-login information screen messages
which describe the services or options available to users once they have logged
in, can increase the risk of further attempts to access your information systems.
Sharing of Information Gathered
Personally Identifiable Information
We will make your personally identifiable information available to other companies
or persons when:
·You volunteer information or create a
public profile in the course of your participation in our community features such
as forums, user opinions and reviews, chat rooms, photo sharing or other forms of
public communication and interaction.
·When required by law, such as when we
respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process.
·We believe that your actions violate applicable
laws, BIG Portal’s Terms of Use, or any usage guidelines for specific products or
services, or threaten the rights, property, or safety of our company, our users,
or others.
Information
Security issues considered when implementing our policy pertaining to the use of
sharing information gathered via the portal include the following:
·The following examples of Internet access
via the portal not only detract from business efficiency, but can even result in
legal and criminal proceedings, which will almost certainly damage the organisation.
1.Downloading of pornographic material from Web sites
2.Playing games and using 'Chat Rooms'.
3.Subscribing and contributing to news groups using the corporate internet
address and signature.
4.The use and abuse of office equipment for the storage and printing
of inappropriate material, example, large pictures/images.
5.Sending and receiving personal correspondence by e-mail, the volume
and content of which is deemed as excessive and / or inappropriate.
6.Excessive 'surfing' of Web sites during business hours for personal
reasons.
7.Retrieval and distribution to other staff of offensive 'joke of the
day' e-mails
8.The use and abusive of office equipment for the storage and printing
of inappropriate material e.g. large pictures / images.
THE USE OF INFORMATION SUCH AS THOSE GIVEN IN
THE EXAMPLES ABOVE ARE STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.
Aggregate Information
We aggregate personally identifiable information and disclose such information in
a non-personally identifiable manner to advertisers and other third parties for
marketing, promotional, and other purposes. We do not disclose to these entities
any information that could be used to identify you personally.
What are my options?
Users who do not wish to provide any user data requested by our registration process
do not need to register with www.barbados.gov.bb.
A large portion of content can still be viewed without registration, however the
user may be unable to participate in or use some services offered.
Users also have the following options:
·Opting not to receive calendar event notifications.
Users may opt to remove themselves from these notifications at any time via our
subscription management pages.
·Opting not to provide certain personal
information when registering for a site, will result in your not being able to use
some of our services without providing us certain information.
·Users may choose to only view unsecured
information such as will be provided in the content management process, e.g., historical
information and general information such as recipes.
How can I review or update my
personally identifiable Information
You can review, correct, or change the information collected during registration
for any of our sites. The instructions for doing this can be found in our member-services
areas. Users may change information at any time and as often as necessary. Users
who are experiencing problems with our services or who have questions about how
our services work can contact us using e-mail addresses at the bottom of this page.

Protection of children’s Personal
Information
www.barbados.gov.bb does not knowingly allow children
under the age of 18 to participate in any of the services offered. Participation
of children in services offered by www.barbados.gov.bb
can only be done by the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Examples of information we collect
Information You Give Us
You provide information when you search, buy, pay, post, participate in a questionnaire,
or communicate with customer service. For example, you provide information when
you search for a product; pay taxes through www.barbados.gov.bb;
provide information in your Account; communicate with us by phone, e-mail, or otherwise;
complete a questionnaire; participate in Discussion Boards or other community features;
provide and rate Reviews; specify a Special Occasion Reminder; and employ other
Personal Notification Services, such as Available to Order Notifications. As a result
of those actions, you might supply us with such information as your name, address,
and phone numbers; credit card information; people to whom purchases have been shipped,
including addresses and phone number; content of reviews and e-mails to us; and
financial information, including National Insurance and driver's license numbers.
Automatic Information
Examples of the information we collect and analyze include the Internet protocol
(IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet; login; e-mail address;
password; computer and connection information such as browser type and version,
operating system, and platform; payment and purchase history, which we sometimes
aggregate with similar information from other customers to create features; the
full Uniform Resource Locator (URL) clickstream to, through, and from our Web site,
including date and time; cookie number; products you viewed or searched for; and
the phone number you used to call our Customer Service number. During some visits
we may use software tools such as JavaScript to measure and collect session information,
including page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages,
page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), and methods
used to browse away from the page.

We routinely update this privacy statement. When this update is done, we place the
“last updated” date at the top of the privacy statement. We encourage users to periodically
