| HIV & AIDS Musical To Mark Love Safely Week |

The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development is staging a musical dramatic production to raise awareness about the HIV-related stigma and discrimination and the importance of knowing one’s HIV status.
This free event, entitled: “An Evening of Love” will be held next Friday, February 12, at the Solidarity House, Hindsbury Road, St. Michael, at 6:00 p.m. Persons are asked to bring a donation of a non-perishable food item for the HIV/AIDS Food Bank.
According to HIV/AIDS Programme Coordinator for the Ministry, Reverend Hughson Inniss, “the production is part of the Ministry’s HIV and AIDS outreach programme, which uses creative and interactive methods to reduce the spread of HIV and AIDS through education… With the numerous requests from staff and some members of the public, the decision was taken to re-format the production, expand it, and present [it] to not only the staff, but the public, as another HIV intervention during ‘Love Safely Week 2010.”
The production will feature song, drama, dance and poetry from jazz singer, Kellie Cadogan and actors Dainika Bynoe, Matthew Murrell, Carlos Barrow and Angelo Lascelles. There will also be guest appearances by poets, Adrian Green and DJ Simmons and gospel artist, Paula Hinds.
“Love Safely Week” is being observed this year from February 14-20. It aims to sensitise the public about the importance of practising safe sex. (LB/BGIS)
