Political System
Barbados has a stable and democratic system of government.
It became an independent Nation on November 30, 1966.
Her Excellency Dame Sandra Prunella Mason is the Governor General.
The Honourable Mia Amor Mottley is the Prime Minister.
Tourism is the main foreign exchange earner, with agriculture, oil and the financial services sector contributing to the island's economy.
The official currency is the Barbados (BDS) dollar and the exchange rate is fixed at BDS $1.98 to US$1.
