Mrs. Annette Weekes
PERMANENT SECRETARY (ECONOMIC AFFAIRS AND INVESTMENT)
MINISTRY OF FINANCE, ECONOMIC AFFAIRS AND INVESTMENT
Mrs. Annette Weekes is the acting Permanent
Secretary, Economic Affairs, in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs and
Investment. She has close to 30 years of
experience in the public sector at both middle and senior management
levels. Mrs. Weekes joined the Public Service
as a Finance Office and has subsequently held the posts of Chief Accountant,
Chief Management Accountant (ag.), Director of Value Added Tax, Deputy
Permanent Secretary (ag.)/Administration and Comptroller of Customs (ag.). She has represented the Ministry of Finance
and Economic Affairs, in her various capacities, on a number of Boards and
Committees.
Mrs. Weekes is a graduate of the University of
Western Ontario. She also holds a Master
in Business Administration and a Post Graduate in Legislative Drafting, both from
the University of the West Indies. She
is a Fellow Certified Professional Accountant/Certified General Accountant
(FCPA/FCGA), a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and a Fellow of the Chartered Governance
Institute of Canada (FCIS). She completed the Professional Administrator’s
Programme and was awarded the designation P. Adm.
Mrs. Weekes is a member of the Institute of
Chartered Accountants of Barbados, the Chartered Professional Accountants of
British Columbia, the Chartered Professional Accountants-Barbados Chapter and the
Chartered Governance Institute of Canada.
Mrs. Weekes is a voracious reader who encourages
those around her, especially her son and daughter, to keep the faith and stay
focused.
