Ms. Gabrielle Anthea Springer

MINISTRY OF PEOPLE EMPOWERMENT AND ELDER AFFAIRS
Ms. Gabrielle Anthea Springer, BSS, MSc., BSc.
(Hons) is a career public servant who joined the Public Service over 27 years
ago in April,1993. She has served in
many capacities during her tenure including Project Manager, Chief Tourism Development
Officer, Deputy Permanent Secretary and, since 2008, the post of Permanent
Secretary.
Ms. Springer has been
assigned a diverse range of Ministries during her posting as Permanent
Secretary including Tourism, International Transport, International Business,
Health, Defence and Security and she is currently serving at the Ministry of
People Empowerment and Elder Affairs.
Ms. Springer received the Bachelor
of Science (Hons) in Geography from the University College London, University
of London and the Master of Science in Tourism Planning and Development from
the University of Surrey. She has successfully completed several postgraduate
programmes in Executive Public Sector Management and Leadership at institutions
such as the Schulich School of Business, University of York, Canada and the
John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, United States of
America.
The Accolade of Barbados
Service Star was also conferred on
Ms. Springer in recognition of her contribution to the Public Service and the
planning and execution of Barbados 50th Anniversary of Independence
Celebrations.
In addition to her public
service, Ms. Springer maintains a strong interest in the heritage of the
Anglican Church in Barbados as well as research into the determinants of crime
among young people. She also enjoys
reading military history and participating in discussions about public affairs.
